Welcome New Racers!
Racing is a fun way to refine your sailing skills. Having another boat sailing nearby at your performance level is a great teacher.
This is a program for new skippers and experienced ones. You must be a “rated” member (Level 1) to race. Contact a race coordinator if you have questions. All races are held on Kent Lake from the East Boat Launch.
The season opens with a seminar on right-of-way rules, safety, and go-fast techniques. This a “MUST attend” meeting for all new racers.
Here is the racing schedule: Race Schedule.
Racing events are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday mornings or afternoons, starting in May. Practices on the water provide a chance to brush up on boat handling with drills & exercises. Put up the chute after a dockside spinnaker workshop. You must attend this seminar to race.
After orientation & practice, you may skipper in the races with an experienced racer on board. We gather after racing to exchange ideas & make excuses! You don’t have to win to come out ahead.
