All Hands On Deck. Our club allows you to get your hands as dirty or water logged as you desire.
We are a real hands on Sailing and Teaching organization.
Our all volunteer organization has a long tradition, over 50 years, of sailing and sharing sailing skills and boat safety, we have a very experienced group of instructors and volunteers. Many of our members also have their own boats and all this experience is available to you as a new member.

So whatever your hands on talents are, or want to be, theres a place for you at ASI.
Membership information here, or call 248-393-4280.

Hands On

ASI offers real hands on sailing experiences. With just one seasons experience and your L1 sailpass under your belt our Racing Program, for example, gets you right out in the boats. Our Level one classes put you right on the tiller with experienced sailors in your boat. No being crew for months. We provide mentors and members to help build your confidence, sailing skills in your own time frame. Our Level two classes allow you to captain right out of class.

We are all Volunteers and help keep the boats in shape, keep the club fun, social and growing. We enjoy sharing our experiences and skills, and sailing in club boats. So as a club member you can get as much into the bilge pump or top of the mast as you desire. Its great fun. Start your “hands on” quiz here.

Since we are “hands on”, and sailboats require maintenance to stay afloat, we require all members to invest a bit of their own time doing volunteer hours. We hope they are fun, and for some they must be, since many members give back far more than we require. Hours include anything from being a Dock Master, to changing oil, to leading an event, and even sail sewing – and building websites. So you can be as hands on as you want with ASI.

We offer many hands-on workshops, Docking, Capsize, Spinnaker. And when your ready, check out our Class Descriptions for Advanced Level One or Level Two class. Get the details you need to take your sailing to the next level.

Our Open House, Milford Parade, Put-in, Take-out, sail sew, Pirate party, club picnic, Kent Cup Race, and boat Maintenance all work only because of our great club volunteers. Our newsletter, the Burgee, and our club Event Calendar keep us all informed.
